My goal is to be Fit and 50 and my role models are beautiful ladies like Christy Brinkley, Angela Bassett, Suzanne Somers and Pam Grier. They all show how you can be beautiful, active, smart women after 50!

I plan to stay active. I’ve been doing the Michael Jackson: Experience dance game for wii. I want to also get Just Dance 2 and Zumba for wii. I want to have fun while working out, so I decided dancing would be the best way. Dancing is one thing I have always enjoyed. Anyone who has had a great workout experience with these games please share your comment on this blog post! Fellow herbalist Khetnu hipped me to African and Caribbean Dance with Kukuwa. I want to learn more about this dance workout too!

My other goals are to:

Our booth at The African Festival of the Arts

This is a busy time of year. It is a transition into the fall season. The Labor Day weekend has come and gone, the children are settling back in school. Some parents have sent their children off to college and we are staying prayerful for all the young college men and women who have started a new journey.

People tend use this time to start a healthy program for the whole family. It is a good time to work on building the immune system to fight the flu and colds. Some of us have started a new workout plan to shed those extra pounds and began a good detox program. All these steps are good to stay healthy and fight illness.

A group of Nature Sunshine health practitioners joined together to offer the ZYTO Compass scan this year at The African Festival of the Arts in Chicago. The event turned out well. I was excited to participate on Sunday and Monday of the Labor Day weekend event with my new Compass scanner. I am so happy to offer this assessment. It is helping people learn so much about their selves. My family and I have learned some things too. We are starting on the recommended supplements the Compass scan informed us that our bodies needed.

The weekend is here. This past week was a good week for me. I feel like I am reaching a goal I set some time ago. Thanks to the internet, along with communicating any way I can about this topic, I am reaching more and more women who want to try an natural alternative for a various list of female issues, such as:

and other issues many women face. One of the women I have been talking with made my day when she emailed me saying she is only 5 days into her herbal program and she feels good already. Balancing her hormones was one of her goals and she is receiving the benefits already from her natural program. This news made my day!

For some time now as I speak to women the topic of fibroid tumors seems to come up. Women have contacted me saying they had surgery now their fibroids have returned. Others describe how they have several fibroid tumors – different sizes and shapes forming in their uterus. Some have cysts on the ovaries along with it. Why is this becoming a more common issue for many women? Many are over age 30. I even talk to some who aren’t 30 yet. It has to do with a number of things that women are exposed to causing estrogen overload. We’re exposed to this through our diet, including hormone-injected meat, canned goods, plastics and more.

Stress is another problem that seems to be linked to fibroid issues. Many women have thyroid issues and the thyroid is important for hormone function in the body.

My goal is to continue to educate and share the natural herbal program I have to help women, so they can live healthy lives and go on to become mothers or do whatever they want to do.

I want to take time out during Lupus Awareness Month to post a special blog. I lost a very special aunt who died from complications of lupus. She had kidney failure and went through many health trials and tribulations. I must say she was a strong woman and hardly ever complained. She is truly missed and her struggle is one thing that motivated me to become a herbalist and get the word out that natural alternatives can reverse serious health issues along with prevention from ever getting sick.

One of my dear friends, sisters and mentors Medina J. Nance is a good example of this. She was diagnosed with lupus and went on to eat healthy and get on a good herbal program to help strengthen her body. Through the grace of God Medina never had to take any medications for lupus. She was able to reverse her condition and when she went back to her doctors they saw no signs of lupus and she has been “lupus-free” since then. She is also a herbalist, educator and host of her own TV show in Chicago where she shares the benefits of herbs and colon cleansing. When dealing with holistic health measures I recommend that you try the A, B, C, D approach to health. A=Activate, B=Build, C=Cleanse and D=Direct aids. With this approach you are working to strengthen the body and cleanse the body of toxins, parasites, mucous and waste that cause illness. People today feel they are in good health until they go to the doctor and the doctor diagnoses them with a condition, then they are given prescription drugs to put a “band aid” on the problem, but it does not do anything to rid the problem. Along with that, meds end up causing more side effects. We have to start a new way of thinking.

We have to start thinking differently. There are 3 basic reasons for illness: Stress, Toxins and Lack of nutrition. With this in mind we can strengthen our bodies and reverse illness by practicing a lifestyle that will supply us with the nutrition we need, detox our bodies and try to live stress-free.

You can reverse illnesses, diseases and disorders. It is important to deal with issues as soon as you can. Don’t wait til the condition is at a critical level to try and then rebuild the system. Once organs are damaged certain conditions are irreversible.
